Everyone at star 'a' u19's would like to take this opportunity to wish Steven Nethery every success in his new career. Steven or 'Nev' as he is known has recently joined the marines. For a player to come of the bench and score in 3 games in a row says a lot about his character, he will be sorely missed as will Gary Wright, coach of our u13's, who due to work commmitments has had to abandon his coaching duties. the good news is Gary will continue in his role as u13's team secretary. We will miss you Gary. Another stalwart of Star 'a', George Watson, who led our u21's to the 'B' division championship has been forced to resign his position. George is an excellent football coach and it will be to the detriment of the club that he is unable to continue in his role as head coach of the u21's team. We only hope that in the near future George will make a u-turn and return to the ranks of Star 'a'.

Any club in Britain of similar size to ourselves who is interested in participating in an annual tournament, 1 year away 1 year at home, against us please contact me at either, or both, the e-mail addresses below.... graeme_013@fsmail.net or eckherriot@yahoo.co.uk well done to star'a' u19's on winning the royal edinburgh cup at ferguson park, rosewell v leith ath. the star won 2-1. it more than made up for the misery of losing the david murray cup final the week before to hutchison vale by a scoreline of 3-0. newtongrange gala day is fast approaching and the coaches and helpers of star'a' will work their socks off yet again to raise funds for the club, we will have our usual penalty kick competition, burger stall, tombola etc as well as seving tea coffee and soft drinks from the clubrooms in newtongrange public park.
